Both are different names for the same event during the same period.  On Zhong Yuan Festival (15th of the seventh Lunar Month), we believe that the gates of underworld are opened and the Earth Official will pardon the sins and bestow Salvation during this period. 

We perform 3 days of rituals ranging from consecrating the religious grounds to the summoning of the souls and the reciting of Repentance Rituals to share Taoist teachings to both the devotees and the souls. You are welcomed to drop by to observe our rituals if you are interested.

Hiang Tong Keng conducts a full three-day Taoist salvation ritual, with continuous scripture recitation, sacred rites, merit dedication, and salvation ceremonies.

Participants receive the benefits of a comprehensive ritual programme conducted over all three days, ensuring that prayers and merits are dedicated throughout the entire ceremony.

These are the various registration categories we have for our Salvation Prayers:

1. Ancestors
For the deliverance of our ancestors and departed loved ones, as an expression of filial piety and remembrance.

2. Karmic Creditors
For the deliverance of karmic creditors from our present and past lives, seeking to resolve karmic entanglements, remove obstacles and pray for peace and well-being.

3. Wandering Souls
For the deliverance of wandering spirits of the ten directions, extending compassion and fostering universal goodwill.

4. Departed Infants
For the deliverance of infant spirits who passed away through miscarriage, abortion or other circumstances, praying that they may be freed from suffering and attain rebirth in a peaceful realm.

5. Departed Pets
For the deliverance of beloved pets who have passed on, in gratitude for their companionship and devotion, praying that they may swiftly progress to a favourable rebirth.

Yes. The Pet Salvation Tablet ($58) allows pet owners to dedicate merits and prayers for their departed pets during the Zhong Yuan Salvation Ritual (7th Month Rituals). Many families choose this option to express gratitude and remembrance in memorial of their beloved animal companions.

As mentioned in our Scriptures, Taoism Salvation Rituals benefits all beings in The Four Forms of Birth and Six Realms of Existence (四生六道). Your departed pets will also be able to receive the merits of Salvation from the rituals.

In Taoist tradition, the 7th lunar month is a time of ultimate compassion when the gates of the underworld open. Participating in 7th month pet rituals allows owners to rely upon the grace of the Earth Official to clear any spiritual obstacles for their late pets, ensuring their souls find absolute peace.

Generally, ancestor tablets and the other categories are kept separate, as they serve different purposes.

For ancestor tablets:

Shou Tablet: up to 1 departed name

Fu and Lu Tablet: up to 3 departed names

Golden Mansion Tablet: up to 8 departed names

For Karmic Creditors, Wandering Souls, Departed Infants, and Departed Pets, each tablet is dedicated to one individual category only, regardless of the tablet category or pricing.

While it is not compulsory to attend the rituals, we highly encourage devotees who can make time to drop by for these rituals:
Invocation of Spiritual Tablets (14 August Friday 4pm) -  Our Scripture Group will perform invocation rituals to invite your loved ones, ancestors, pets or Salvation target to the ritual ground.

Sending off Souls and Deities (16 August Sunday 6pm)  - Join us in the finale of the Salvation Rituals to send off the souls and to burn the offerings for their departure.
