Known colloquially as Tua Peh Kong (大伯公) or Peh Yah Kong (伯爷公), Gantian Dadi is the main deity of our temple, whose worship first began in 1911 along Coldstream Avenue. Referring to the deified Xu Xun (许逊), he was a respected Taoist priest of the Jin dynasty, and would later be honoured as one of the four great celestial masters (四大天师). Originally a local deity of Jiangxi, his worship spread southward to Fujian and Guangdong, later following Chinese immigrants across the seas into Southeast Asia. Also Known as 三清(San Qing) The Three Pure Ones represent the highest and purest manifestations in Taoism. It consists of three deities: Yuanshi Tianzun (元始天尊) which represents origin of the universe , Lingbao Tianzun(灵宝天尊) which represents laws and structure of the universe and Daode Tianzun (道德天尊) which represents guidance for the Dao
Patriarch Lü
(纯阳祖师孚佑帝君)
Also known by its shorter name as Lü Zu (祖师) or Lü Dong bin (吕洞滨) is one of the eight immortals in Taoism and revered as a patriarch master(祖师)by many. Born during the Tang Dynasty, Lü Dongbin was said to be a scholar-official who renounced worldly ambitions after encountering the immortal Zhongli Quan. Under his guidance, Lü Dongbin awakened to the impermanence of fame and wealth and devoted himself to Taoist cultivation.
Through years of rigorous self-discipline, inner alchemy, and moral refinement, Lü Dongbin attained immortality and ascended as a Taoist deity. As 祖师, he is regarded not only as an immortal but also as a teacher who guides practitioners on the path of cultivation, wisdom, and virtue.
Many devotees pray to Lü Zu for spiritual guidance , wisdom, protection from negative influences, healing, academic success, and clarity in life’s direction. He is erevered by cultivators and seekers of the Tao, symbolising transcendence, compassion, and the awakening of the true self.
Guan Yin (观音)
Shan Cai and Long Nü (善才龙女)
Guan Yin ( 观音)also known as Ci Hang Zhen Ren (慈航真人), is revered as a compassionate immortal who embodies mercy and salvation. She is believed to have attained enlightenment through profound cultivation and was granted divine status for her vow to relieve suffering and guide beings across life’s hardships. In Taoist belief, Guan Yin responds to sincere prayers and offers protection, healing, and spiritual guidance. Often depicted holding a vase of pure water and a willow branch, symbolising purification, renewal, and compassion. Devotees pray to Guan Yin for peace, protection, good health, fertility, safe journeys, and relief from difficulties, seeing her as a merciful presence who bridges Heaven and humanity.
Fu De Zheng Shen Tua Pek Kong
(福德正神大伯公)
Historically, Zhang Fude was believed to be a righteous official who was later honoured as the “Righteous God of Fortune and the Land” (福德正神). Today, 福德正神, commonly known as Tua Pek Kong, is one of the most beloved and widely worshipped deities in Chinese folk religion and Taoist culture across Southeast Asia.
Unlike majestic celestial deities, Tua Pek Kong is often portrayed as an elderly and approachable grandfather figure, usually depicted with a full beard, walking stick, and gold ingot. This compassionate image gives devotees the sense that he is close to ordinary people and understands the struggles of daily life. As a result, many pray to him for safety, prosperity, protection, and smooth fortune. Business owners and entrepreneurs commonly offer prayers before starting new ventures, seeking the blessings of the Earth God for stability, success, and long-term prosperity.
Mother of Constellations (斗母元君)
60 Taisui Generals (六十太岁星君)
Highest-ranking mother deities in Taoism and is revered as the Mother of the Big Dipper Stars and the sixty Tai Sui deities. In Taoist belief, she governs the cosmic order, the movement of stars, human destiny, blessings, longevity, and protection from calamities. She is regarded as the compassionate mother deity who oversees the fortunes and well-being of humanity.
She is depicted with three eyes, four faces, and eight arms, each carrying profound Taoist symbolism.
Sun & Moon Circles: Representing her control over celestial light and balance of yin and yang energies.
Bell: Symbolizing the power to summon or control elements.
Seal: Representing divine authority.
Weapons: A bow, arrow, sword, halberd, or curved spear, representing her power to eliminate negative forces.
